Focusrite: Scarlet x Mayyadda

UK-based audio company, Focusrite contacted me as they prepared to launch the newest version of their most popular piece of hardware – the Scarlet. The Scarlet allows musicians to get studio quality recordings with minimal gear at home or on the road. Focusrite had been in contact with Minneapolis musician Mayyadda, who started doing her own home recordings during the pandemic. I got to join as Mayyadda recorded a new live take of one of her songs using the Focusrite’s latest interface and microphone - highlighting the equipment and Mayyadda’s use of it in the bright Minneapolis apartment. Having spent almost 10 years working most weeks at The Current's recording studios, I have a special appreciation for the recording process, and trying to highlight the magic of the perfect take.
