Donkey Label is rooted in the midwest but is high performance cycling clothing for riding anywhere. This July while in Aspen Colorado for another assignment, I added a half-day shoot for Donkey Label. A few months before the trip, I connected with Iain of Aspen Cycling Tours via some mutual friends on Instagram. He coaches cyclists and leads private tours on all of the amazing mountain roads around the Aspen area. I didn't want to miss out on the fun, so I packed my own bike to have along on the trip and planned a shoot where I'd be riding with the "models", capturing a ride that any cyclist visiting the area would love.Read More
Donkey Label, a Minnesota cycling apparel and accessories brand, has been committed to bike racing since it's inception, but this year they also began sponsoring a team of elite racers. The team was created with a goal of having more transparency and allowing people a behind the scenes look at life on an elite cycling squad.
DonkeyLabelRacing.com was built to highlight photo galleries from races, and publish articles written by the team members about racing, diving into things like training, bike tech, and nutrition.
Here is a small selection of images from the North Star Grand Prix. DonkeyLabelRacing.com has a larger gallery, and images from a track night of racing at the National Sports Center Velodrome in Blaine, MN.Read More
Nights recently have been a little cooler, the sun is setting a little earlier. The early signs of fall are here. This means it's now cyclocross season. In Minneapolis, every Tuesday night, cyclists from across the metro head to Aquila Park in Saint Louis Park for some fun early season racing. The riders race against the sun in addition to each other, with the last race ending just as the last rays of sun disappear from the grassy hillside.Read More
Growing up in Central Pennsylvania, it was easy to take for granted how great the area was for road biking. I spent most of my time biking the world class trails in the mountains a short drive from town, but the road biking in the area is just as phenomenal. This little stretch of road is less than two miles from the center of town, yet has several working barns lining each side. With perfect weather forecast, I knew I had to pull together a small shoot along the stretch of road.Read More
The Almanzo is a 100 mile bike race that winds its way along the the beautiful gravel farm roads south of Rochester. While I've know about the race for about 3-4 years, I finally got my act together to put in enough training miles to do the race this past weekend. The race is incredibly unique by being totally free, organized by the incredible hard work of Chris Skogen. the Its amazing to look back at how much the race has grown. In 2007, the first year of the race, 13 people started, and only 3 finished. This year it was over 1500 people who started the race.Read More
