Donkey Label is rooted in the midwest but is high performance cycling clothing for riding anywhere. This July while in Aspen Colorado for another assignment, I added a half-day shoot for Donkey Label. A few months before the trip, I connected with Iain of Aspen Cycling Tours via some mutual friends on Instagram. He coaches cyclists and leads private tours on all of the amazing mountain roads around the Aspen area. I didn't want to miss out on the fun, so I packed my own bike to have along on the trip and planned a shoot where I'd be riding with the "models", capturing a ride that any cyclist visiting the area would love.Read More
Donkey Label, a Minnesota cycling apparel and accessories brand, has been committed to bike racing since it's inception, but this year they also began sponsoring a team of elite racers. The team was created with a goal of having more transparency and allowing people a behind the scenes look at life on an elite cycling squad.
DonkeyLabelRacing.com was built to highlight photo galleries from races, and publish articles written by the team members about racing, diving into things like training, bike tech, and nutrition.
Here is a small selection of images from the North Star Grand Prix. DonkeyLabelRacing.com has a larger gallery, and images from a track night of racing at the National Sports Center Velodrome in Blaine, MN.Read More
Cyclocross has been the core of Donkey Label's focus to make the best possible cycling apparel. This fall DL put together a new cycling team in partnership with Scratch Labs nutrition, HED wheels, and the Bicycle Haus as sponsors.
For this past weekend's Velo CX race, held at the National Sports Center Velodrom, I jumped in the DL truck and rode with owner Paul Krumrich to capture a day at the races.Read More
Growing up in Central Pennsylvania, it was easy to take for granted how great the area was for road biking. I spent most of my time biking the world class trails in the mountains a short drive from town, but the road biking in the area is just as phenomenal. This little stretch of road is less than two miles from the center of town, yet has several working barns lining each side. With perfect weather forecast, I knew I had to pull together a small shoot along the stretch of road.Read More
Last fall I connected with Paul Krumrich, the man behind Donkey Label cycling clothing, when he reached out after seeing my Green Acres cyclocross photos. Over the last few weeks, I've worked with Paul as he's finished his relaunch of the Donkey Label brand, with a whole new product line for spring. With the new website launching deep in the middle of winter here in Minnesota, we worked with some images from my archives to use as billboards across the front of the website. I also wanted to create a short film to tease the new line and get people excited. With most of the new products available for pre-order, the goal was to peak curiosity more than fully showcase each new item.Read More
