Another year, another great weekend of shows at First Ave for The Current's anniversary. As always The Current puts together a lineup that really hits a huge range of genres, but it all comes together as a solid cohesive show. Friday night's lineup started with young and incredibly talented John Mark Nelson, followed by the soulful blues of Chastity Brown The show highlight was the Twin Cities Funk and Soul All-Stars, bringing great vocalists from the 70s to the stage like The Valdons. Friday was capped off with the hard rocking 4 On The Floor. The second night was solid as well, with the all female hip-hop crew The Chalice starting things off strong, before Now, Now took control of the stage. Dave Pirner of Soul Asylum lead an emotional acoustic set, before the Saturday night headliners, Cloud Cult came out rocking, playing a set full of their most popular songs. As always First Ave was just a great venue for both the crowd and the bands.
