The Cactus Blossoms - Album Cover

The Cactus Blossoms - Album Cover

Not many people are making music like the The Cactus Blossoms these days. Jack and Page are making the sort of country music not much heard since the 1950s and 60s. After having released two albums on their own, they signed to Red House Records this summer – a renowned folk and americana label based here in Saint Paul Minnesota. Their new album has been featured on Rollingstone.com as one of the 25 most anticipated country albums of the year, and Garden & Gun magazine featured the album with an exclusive preview.

Pain Cave Training Time

Pain Cave Training Time

This is dedicated to the cyclists for whom there is no off season, to the riders who don't have a fresh New Year's resolution, but a continued commitment to riding.

It is still a harsh reality for those of us living in northern climates that through winter it is impossible to ride outside with the same intensity of summer, and instead we must ride indoors.  This is not why we ride, it's not a mountain road with a scenic view, but a necessity of winter so that we can still be ready for the roads come spring.

For the past few years, Now Bikes in Saint Paul, MN has offered classes through the winter, letting riders bring in their own bikes and ride. Even with new technology it takes commitment to put in hours of riding indoors through the winter, but it's knowing that it will pay dividends when the season starts anew that keeps the legs spinning. These images are dedicated to that drive.

New Print Portfolio and Motion Reel

I am excited to announce a new printed portfolio and motion reel. There was a lot of work on this behind the scenes over the last several weeks, focusing on making selects, sequencing and printing two portfolios - one "Active Lifestyle" and one "Portrait + Music" portfolio.  Working with Shapco Printing, I'm really happy with the set of beautiful 11x14" prints on a heavy matte paper in a simple portfolio box. The tactile quality of the matte prints is wonderful, and you have to see and hold to really experience.

Additionally I also worked with video editor Joseph McMohan to create a new reel of my motion work. A reel can be hard to approach objectively, and it was great to partner with Joseph to have a fresh perspective, pulling from across nearly 20 recent projects, and incorporating the footage into one video under 2 minutes in length. It was a nice collaboration, and I'm especially excited to share it:

Green Acres Cyclocross

Green Acres Cyclocross

Fall for cyclists is cyclocross season, and this weekend was one of the best races annually held in Minnesota – Green Acres cyclocross race. The course snakes up, down and around a snow tubing hill, and surrounding farm fields. I was only able to catch the 2nd day of racing, missing the 300+ racers on Saturday, but still 200+ racers were out with bright sunny skies through the day.  It was great racing, and a lot of fun out on the course cheering and heckling the racers. I didn't get out and race this year, hopefully I'll have my bike re-assembled before the next race.
