The Cactus Blossom’s have spent the two+ years writing and recording their new album. It was an honor to be asked to work with them again for some press photos to accompany the new album. Taking an afternoon in the Westbank neighborhood of Minneapolis – legendary for the bars where Bob Dylan got his start. We had a very casual shoot in bouncing between Palmer’s Bar, The alley behind The Wienery, and eventually getting up onto the roof of iconic The Cedar Cultural center.
Then at the beginning of the holiday season, The Cactus Blossoms took to the First Avenue Main Room for what’s become a big annual gig, treating those attending to a sneak peak at a lot of the songs that will be on the new album due out in March. The first single from the album is “Please Don’t Call Me Crazy,” a fun tune, a little more rocking than some of their older songs, so they reached out to me to direct a small team to capture the live energy of the song and create a video from the First Avenue show. The audio is the live performance, not the album version, which adds to the energy. We did film some of soundcheck, getting some extra footage to mix in with the live footage.
Check it out bellow. Huge thanks to the team that made it possible:
