Early in the summer, as I received word that I'd be in the 2014 Communication Arts Photo Annual, I began planning a printed newsletter to celebrate my inclusion in the Photo Annual and to highlight some of my other recent work. I was inspired by the amazing newspaper that Jonathan Chapman produces, and wanted to take that same idea of creating a wonderfully tactile product, but had to figure out the right format for my work.
I was thrilled to collaborate with Ben Johnson, http://www.benjayway.com, a designer at Life Time Fitness that I worked with when shooting a campaign with Life Time this spring. Ben quickly responded on Twitter to my call for a graphic designer to help develop this idea into a finished mailing. I feel lucky to have worked with Ben since as he also just received a major award, winning recognition in AdFed MN's, 32 Under 32 awards.
Working with the scale of a single sheet of newsprint, we developed a layout that began like a newspaper, but would ultimately open up to reveal a large spread of images from a single project. Each section highlighted a different area of my photography expertise: Portraits, Outdoor Lifestyle, and Music.
You can find a PDF version of the newsletter HERE.
And if you missed out on this first edition of my newsletter because I didn't have your address, you can subscribe to future mailings on my about page.
