Its been a busy summer, and I've been traveling a ton. I've finally got a few days to catch up with things, and I'll be posting set of images every day this week!
At the end of June I traveled to Oregon to attend a wedding, and after seeing Instrument agency's "This Place" project last spring (thisplacejournal.com), I knew I had to extend my trip a few days to head to the coast. It was incredible to explore all the little State Parks that dot the coastline. Every few miles between the towns of Tillamook and Seaside there was another pull off for a State Park, and another beautiful vista. Stopping at Ecola State Park, north of Cannon Beach, there were some narrow hiking trails cut into the hillsides above the water. Climbing up away from the beach, it was fun to watch the surfers that filled the beach from above.
The following day we stopped at Short Sand Beach in Oswald West State Park, and it seemed to be the quintessential Oregon coast surf spot. Nestled between two rocky points, with tall red pine trees coming down the the water, the beach lay perfectly smooth, protected from the wind. The hot morning sun even causing some low fog as the cool sea water mixed with the warm sand.
Next time I travel back, I may need to rent a wetsuit and surfboard and give surfing another try.
