The third day of the Nature Valley Grand Prix brought the racers to Uptown in Minneapolis for another Critierium. Starting with a long straightaway on Hennepin Ave, the course wove through the tree covered side streets before turning onto Lake Street for another long straightaway and the final corner returning the racers to Hennepin Ave. The race as always had a great atmosphere with fans lining much of the course, especially Hennepin Ave to see the action on the sprint laps. It was great to see lots of parents with young kids out to watch the race as well. Some very entrepreneurial kids were even in their front yards selling Lemonade. The kids race always provides a great intermission between the men's and women's races, and it is fun to see the Pro riders ready to take the corse cheering on some of the smallest kids. After a horrible crash in the women's race last year, it was great to see good hard racing without any major incidents. That said, the racing was anything but boring with both the men's and women's races seeing many attempts to form a lasting break away. In the end, the leading teams in each race pulled things back together for a group sprint finish.
