The last few weeks have been incredibly busy for me, so I have not had nearly enough opportunities to head out and enjoy the fall weather; however, I'm excited to have a bunch of new projects to share in the next week or two. With a bunch of projects finishing up last week, and a few yet to get underway, I'm happy to have a real weekend to enjoy. After a big breakfast, some general housework, it went out for a nice long ride, heading to the River Bottoms trail in Fort Snelling State Park that starts in Mendota. Its always a blast to take a cyclocross bike down there as its just on the edge of too technical for a cross bike, which makes it extra exciting when you get going fast. It was clear a lot of other bikers had the same idea today. I saw more riders today then I've seen in all my previous rides down there combined.
When was back home in Pennsylvania two weeks ago, I finally picked up a new pair of cycling shoes. The river bottoms were a great first test, no pampering the shoes, just diving right into the mud. I hadn't planned on taking photos today, but the late fall colors looked great with the long fall shadows, but I had my iPhone which is always the best best camera when its the only one you're carrying. The ride was great until clouds moved in, and it was a little chilly on the ride home. But still I'll take it as I know it won't be much longer that I can head out before the landscape is covered in snow again.
